Teiji Taguchi / Guitarist, songwriting, song arrangement

 

From orthodox to contemporary jazz, from electronic to acoustic, Taguchi is a guitarist who

searches for various styles.

 

Taguchi started guitar at the age of 12; from 17 he started working as a Yamaha instructor and performer; at 18 he moved to Tokyo and entered Musashino Music School.

He studied guitar, theory, arrangement, and afterward started performing live in Tokyo. In addition to jazz, his activities are broad.

 

Performing as a unit with Nagoya Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra Concert Master Tatsunobu Goto (violin), he is also a member of many other groups.

Interacting flexibly with various styles of music, he acts as support for a variety of artists.

 

In 1997 he went to the U.S.; staying in New York, he performed live music.

 

In 2001, he won the Best Guitarist Award in the Gibson Jazz Guitar contest.

 

In 2003, in New York, he recorded with Steve La Spina (bass), David Kikosky (piano), Adam Nussbaum (drums), and Seamus Blake(saxophone), releasing the CD “Out of the Line.”

 

He released as leader the albums “First Mission,” “One Four Seven,” “Moment's Notice,” and “zephyr,” and also participated in the recording of various other albums.

 

At present, his bases are Tokyo and Fukuoka; he is active nationwide touring and recording, and he is also a part-time instructor in Kwassui Women's University Music Department.
